Fresh Information Come to Light Regarding the Finding of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Bodies

New information has come to light about the tragic demises of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.

The Alarm

A source indicates referencing a family associate, a therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the home. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.

Upon entering the home, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had gone with her promptly called 911. Subsequently, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Developments

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now being held and is ineligible for bail.

Disputed Reports

The anonymous source also disputed several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.

The source also disputed published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation applies to reports of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
