Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The latest Far Cry title that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in violence and insanity with the same excitement, all while weaving gripping, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two creators whose creations have represented all of those elements.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game series, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' format by featuring a different location and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX team always encourages me with their steady belief and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology series. Every instalment is a variation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the essence of society through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to partner with Rob and bring our common bold, visionary approach to the audience.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
