Pat Bamford Joins Sheffield United Despite Initiating Abusive Songs Targeting Manager Chris Wilder
The striker is now a member of the Championship side just half a year following starting derogatory chants directed at the team's coach, Wilder.
The 32-year-old striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds United, has agreed to a agreement with the second-tier club in difficulty through the winter. His seven-year career with Leeds finished amicably this past summer.
Among the player's last memorable actions while at Leeds was to lead insulting chants about Chris Wilder amid Leeds' promotion party in April. Now, the former England international will feature under Wilder as the Blades’ manager looks to lift his beloved club away from the bottom places.
Previous History Involving Bamford and the Manager
Both men had history prior to Leeds moved up to the top flight the previous campaign while Sheffield United were defeated in the promotion decider to Sunderland. Wilder described the forward as a "muppet" when the roles were reversed in 2018-19 and the Blades won direct promotion while Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.
Making Amends and Looking Ahead
Everything appears has been resolved with United, the league's least productive attack, in desperate need of improvement up front and Bamford looking to rejuvenate his career.
The song about Wilder gained traction this spring. A repentant Bamford along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Back in my playing days we used to give it and accept it and that is part and parcel of the game across all levels, even on a Sunday morning. I have absolutely no issue. I am cool with it and I said that to Patrick.”

Bamford featured in 18 appearances for Leeds last season however the former Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Boro player has faced difficulties with injury in recent years.
