President Trump Calls Families of Shot Military Members to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Information on the Devastating Shooting

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their memory.

White House Invitation

The president explained he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president told journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community Response

Community members assembled over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to aid policing efforts in DC.

Honoring the Soldier

“She was the type of pupil that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, considerate and always eager to assist people.”

Service details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Measures and Government Adjustments

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident led the administration to pause asylum applications and halt granting entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor the governor mentioned on television.

Attorney general Pam Bondi informed a news show that she also intended to meet with the family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” Morrisey informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
