Spurs Boss Frank Calls Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Real Fans'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Increase Tension on Frank

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered keeper Vicario were informed later "they cannot be true Spurs fans" by manager Frank.

Tottenham conceded two goals in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th Premier League home loss of the year.

However the primary talking point was the visitors' next score when the keeper lost possession far beyond his box.

He ventured out to handle a long ball and took the ball near the sideline.

But, rather than booting it out of play, the Italian spun and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Welsh midfield player Wilson, who bent a shot into the net from the touchline measured at 36.6 metres.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to Vicario again, some Spurs supporters booed him.

Spurs were jeered off at half-time, with the side 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.

One of those jeering episodes truly irritated Frank.

"It came to my attention some of our supporters reportedly jeered the incident and booed after, which, in my opinion is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager commented about the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"[They] cannot be true Spurs supporters that do that. Fair enough booing after the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting one another, we are with each other moving ahead."

Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute lead prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus netting for Spurs in an improved second-half performance.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Hart remarked that the second score was "totally preventable".

"I certainly understand the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I am aware the role Vicario is performing. He's a great squad member, he is a real leader in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"He was deeply involved in what ended up to be the winning goal."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Thomas Frank Defended His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match

Italy national team Vicario is in his third season with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old said after the game that he had to accept the criticism.

"The second goal was a error of mine, I take accountability for that," he said.

"The intent was to clear the ball far and I just struck the ball in a bad manner. That made an more difficult challenge to overcome."

He said being booed "comes with the game".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he added. "We cannot be influenced by the situation in the crowd. The fans have the right to do what they think.

"It's on the team to stay more calm, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is missing in calmness and calmness to reverse outcomes. This match is a poor defeat and it is hard to take."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Goal Line'

In spite of Vicario's error, it was far from an easy score for Harry Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the second longest-range top division goal of the season – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly too came on the same day.

The goalscorer stated he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an open net to target.

10 moments passed between Vicario exiting of his area and the midfielder striking – which was 5 moments following the kick.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the area for ages," he remarked.

"I was surprised none of the back four returned to the line. When not one of them covered the net, my interest sparked somewhat.

"Udogie slipped too, which allowed me a little additional time. After that it was all about trying to make the correct connection and place it towards goal. I had a good feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Poor Run, Everything Seems to Work Against You'

Booing While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unjustifiable - Frank

Although Vicario's mistake led coverage, this was an overall bad performance for Tottenham to continue their home ground woes.

The match was their 10th home defeat of 2025 in the league, a joint club statistic along with 1994 and 2003.

They still have home games against the manager's former club Brentford and title holders the Reds to come prior to the close of the season.

Only one of those wins have come after the manager replaced his predecessor in the summer.

"If you are behind 2-0 after the opening, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated Frank.

"During in a bad spell, all aspects seems to work against you as well – the opening was a deflected attempt, the next is a mistake from Vic.

"The outcome puts us in a position where we have lost another match. Each fixture has a single story, this game we lost in the early stages.

"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and with luck something we can use to develop."

Spurs have lost four straight at home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are averaging nine point five attempts and three point two shots on target per match in the division – their poorest averages on file in a single campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Former Cottagers midfield player Danny Murphy commented that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He's got take the criticism," Murphy said. "He has accepted a high profile job at a major football club with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and duty that comes with that.

"The performances at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
