Approximately 55,000 homes have currently been affected by the rains, with their possessions and dwellings damaged.

Persistent storms over the recent period have compounded the already dire circumstances of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated civilians in the region, as reported by humanitarian agencies.

"Horrendous" Night Brings Severe Risks

A spokesman characterized the previous night's conditions as "awful", with rain so severe that as much as 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the ground.

"The recent weather was really difficult for the people. The storms were so strong... And the gusts were so powerful," stated the representative.

There is significant anxiety that children living in temporary structures in damp garments will succumb to hypothermia and various sicknesses.

Deaths and Widespread Loss

Health authorities have confirmed that one baby has died from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have been killed in building collapses due to the harsh conditions.

Other reports indicate a greater fatality count. Spokespeople reported that multiple residential buildings had fully given way and scores had collapsed partially.

  • Roughly 55,000 families impacted by flooding.
  • More than 40 official safe spaces inundated.
  • Many people forced to relocate again.

Assistance Efforts Deemed Insufficient

Groups have increased shipments of tents, warm covers and garments after the truce began, but they have said there is still not enough aid entering.

"We are striving constantly to bring in that aid and to distribute it, but the magnitude of the necessities is so immense that we continue to see thousands of families and children who are truly suffering each evening," cautioned one spokesperson.

Future Challenges and Agreement Provisions

The subsequent part of the agreement includes arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the pullback of troops, and other terms.

Aid organizations have underscored the need for "increased and sustained humanitarian assistance to meet pressing and future requirements."

The war was initiated by an offensive in the autumn of 2023. Subsequent actions have resulted in a high number of lives lost in the area, as per official data.
